The Disabled Citizens Recreation program offers community-based recreation activities and leisure services specifically designed for youth through adults who have a disability and/or special needs. Our services are designed to assist people to develop and use their leisure time in ways to enhance their health, independence and well-being. We offer a variety of classes, day-trips and an integrated children's camp. Inclusion services are provided into general Portland Parks & Recreation program. People of any age and disability/special need are welcome to receive services.

Internship assignments include planning, assisting, and evaluation of Disabled Citizens Recreation programs, and maintaining program and participant documentation. Interns assist with special interest classes, community fieldtrips, dances, bowling, Camp Ky-o-wa: an integrated day camp, and community field trips. Offerings are seasonal. Portland Parks & Recreation will coordinate length of internship to meet student and university needs.

The program director is a full-time CTRS.

A small stipend is available, housing is not provided.
